Why Do you Want to Work for This Company (Interview Question)

Work for This Company

When you are preparing for an interview, you should spend some time researching the information about the company, as you will most likely be asked the question: “Why do you want to work for our company?”

Most of us, when looking for a job, send resumes to dozens of different vacancies. Often when we receive feedback on a resume, we do not remember either the vacancy or the company information. If we go to an interview without pre-preparation, we are likely to fail the answer to the question, which determines up to 50% of a good impression at the interview. However, if you follow these tips, you won’t be taken by surprise, and your potential employer will likely like the answer.

Recognize the uniqueness of the company

Try to avoid the general phrases “a company with great potential”, “talented people”, and “reliable company” unless you have specific examples to back it up. Try to provide specific examples to highlight your familiarity with the company. If you know that a company spends money on training employees, that the company holds weekly meetings where everyone can speak out with ideas for further development, you should definitely say about it.

Tell a story

If you don’t know much about the company, tell us about how you first heard about it. Perhaps one of your friends worked here, or you came across work issues. Perhaps you know about how the company has developed – this will all be a good example. Try to emphasize what exactly you liked about what you learned, but do not praise just like that.

Think about the future

If you know the areas in which the company operates, say that you like the prospect of development in this direction and that you would be interested in participating in development in these areas. This will emphasize that you have ideas for the development of the company and you have the inspiration to work.

Get personal

If you find it difficult to say something following the three previous tips, you can talk about people. Even if you don’t know anyone who works there – you’ve already seen a couple of people before you got to the interview – you talked on the phone, in correspondence, and talked in the office. Emphasize that you liked how energetic and enthusiastic people were and you really liked it, and you always wanted to work in such an environment.
