Hey friends, today I’ll let you explore the best beaches in Sri Lanka. These Serene Beaches of Sri Lanka are just perfect to loosen up and chill whole day long! I visited these Beaches on my recent Sri Lanka Maldives Tour.

1. Uppuveli

Golden sand, serene blue water, bright sun. Uppuveli certainly doesn’t have a very pleasant past but its natural beauty will take your heart and mind away. This is the best beach in Sri Lanka to take a sunbath and chill!

This coastal area has enough of descent places to stay, restaurants to hang around. You can hire a rickshaw and ride across the beautiful village to explore the natural beauty.

You can also enjoy watersports such as diving, swimming, and snorkeling.

Explore the seabed at the Pigeon Island which is not too far from the beach.

The Best time to visit this beach of Sri Lanka in August to mid-October.

2. Galle

A beautiful city with a very interesting history and stunning beaches, Galle is one of the most visited spots in Sri Lanka.

A UNESCO heritage site, Galle will not cease to amaze you with architectural beauty and historical ruins. Riding a cycle is a perfect way to ramble across the city and chill out on Beautiful Galle beaches.

And don’t miss the deep sea fishing tours and whale watching!

3. Koggala

Koggala is a town situated on the south coast and has one of the longest beaches of Sri Lanka. Koggala beach is just a few kilometers away from the Unawatuna and is less crowded. On one side of Koggala is a reef and on the other side it’s a large lake.

Besides soaking up the sun while sipping on the coconut water on the beach, there are other things that you might want to explore.

4. Negombo

Negombo is a tourist paradise and hence one of the most visited beach in Sri Lanka by international visitors as it is very close to the airport.

Negomo has many restaurants, cafes, and hotels for anyone and everyone. Dutch and Portuguese characteristics in the architecture are quite evident there.

March to September is the best time to visit this Place

There is the number of activities that you can do like visiting gem mines, blue lagoon, take an elephant ride, sights some whales and dolphins in their natural habitat.

5. Trincomalee

Trincomalee also was known as Gokanna is a historic city has one of the world’s finest natural harbors. Situated in  North Eastern Sri Lanka, Trincomalee beach offers the variety of watersports such as diving and surfing on the Marble beach. You will also love to visit Pigeon Island, Periyakulam-Buddhist Temple, Hot Springs of Kanniya, Fort Frederick.

6. Weligama

Weligama is a small town situated on the south coast of Sri Lanka.

This place offers you the most stunning beaches of Sri Lanka, opportunity to see  ‘beeralu lace making’ for which its famous for.

7. Polhena Beach

Matara is a place in Sri Lanka as it is precisely situated in the Southern areas of the city of Colombo.

The Polhena Beach in Matara is about 2 km at a distance from the city center and the great thing about it is that any person can easily swim through the area as the sea water is fenced with the corals.

Polhena Beach in Sri Lanka’s Matara is also a great honeymoon location as there are many amazing areas and places to visit that are very romantic due to their classic look and feel. One of the safest beach to swim.

8. Mount Lavinia

One must visit Mount Lavinia not only for these mesmerizing beaches but also for the elephant ride. This place can easily be reached by train from Colombo Fort Station to Mt Lavinia.

This place is also famous for Turtle Conservation Project, Sri Lanka Airforce Museum.

Best time to visit is January to March and August to November
